How we handle your data — transparently and responsibly
Introduction
Indeed Auto Job Post Helper (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that helps employers automate job posting on Indeed’s employer portal. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
We are committed to user privacy. The Extension is designed to operate with minimal data collection and does not track, profile, or monetize your information in any way.
Information We Collect
The Extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All data remains locally on your device.
The following information is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API:

Third-Party Services
The Extension communicates with one third-party service:
- OpenAI API (
api.openai.com) — When you click START, the Extension sends your existing job title and job description text to OpenAI’s API to generate rewritten versions. Your own API key is used for authentication. This communication is governed by OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
The Extension does not use any analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or other third-party integrations.
Data Sent to OpenAI
When the automation is running, the following data is sent to OpenAI’s API:
- The current job title text (for rewriting)
- The current job description text (for rewriting)
- Your selected language preference
- Your specified city/location
Your OpenAI API key is sent as an authorization header with each request. No other personal information is transmitted.
Permissions Used
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific purpose:

The Extension also uses host permissions for employers.indeed.com (to operate on the job posting pages) and api.openai.com (to make API calls for rewriting).
Data Security
Your OpenAI API key and all settings are stored using Chrome’s built-in chrome.storage.local API, which keeps data sandboxed within the browser’s extension storage. This data is:
- Accessible only to this Extension
- Never transmitted to any server we control
- Automatically removed when you uninstall the Extension
API calls to OpenAI are made over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
Data Retention
All locally stored data persists until you either:
- Clear the Extension’s storage via Chrome’s settings
- Uninstall the Extension (all data is automatically deleted)
No data is retained on any external server.
Children’s Privacy
The Extension is intended for use by employers and HR professionals. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control at all times. You can:
- View your stored settings in the Extension’s floating panel
- Modify or delete any saved data by editing the input fields
- Remove all data by uninstalling the Extension
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Effective” date at the top of this page and publish the revised version. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
